Mr. Dur, after spending his early years in Hartford, Tokyo, Toronto, and Lafayette, LA, attended the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management while working as an Accounting Trainer at American Express Financial Advisors. He became a C.P.A. and managed the audits of hedge funds and regulated investment companies for KPMG in both the Minneapolis and Chicago offices. He later relocated to Los Angeles to take a position with Huron Consulting Group, for which he worked on the Northwest Airlines bankruptcy restructure, a currency translation undertaking for a subsidiary of Navistar in Porto Alegre, Brazil, the Office Depot earnings restatement among other assignments.
Mr. Dur’s career in lending began in 2012 when asked to work as the Compliance Officer for a factor based in Florida having issues with California based clients. After successfully collecting out of three separate deals in which the client breached the contract, he was offered an opportunity to build the brand on the West Coast. Closing a $5 million facility in 2015, the largest in the company’s then 8-year history, solidified his interest in the secondary lending market.
Since its founding in 2017 by Mr. John Dur, Manhattan Commercial Finance has steadily grown to become a trusted leader in alternative financing. Leveraging CPA expertise, the company provides fast, precise assessments and comprehensive financial analyses, ensuring clients receive tailored lending structures suited to their needs. A significant portion of Manhattan’s revenue comes from first and second position unsecured short-term loans, where the company emphasizes responsible lending and ethical standards. With over $40 million in financing structured by 2019, the firm remained profitable and resilient through the COVID-19 era by adapting to new products and utilizing its extensive industry network.
